Easy Rice Burger

When you’re feeling a little lazy but still would like a decent, somewhat exciting, and very tasty meal, a rice burger is the way to go. Because I cook from scratch, I’d bake burger buns if I’m making a burger, but the oven’s busy with my profiteroles so why not go Asian? Rice cooker, fry an egg, grill a pattie, slice an onion, mix two sauces, and voila! A quick and easy rice burger.

 

Ingredients (2 burgers):

2 cups cooked sushi rice

2 cooked meat patties

2 eggs

1 onion

Black sesame seeds

Sauce:

1 tbsp ketchup

1 tbsp sweet soy (kecap manis)

 

Method:

Divide rice into 4 equal portions. Wet your hands and form 4 equally shaped ‘buns’ and leave aside.

Fry each egg sunny side up and leave it to cool down.

Thinly slice enough onion for two.

For sauce, combine ketchup and sweet soy.

Stack everything together and finish with a sprinkling of black sesame seeds over the top.

  1. scrumptious! thanks for reminding me that i can make this at home – i had a Mos burger once on the way back from Taiwan… quite interesting… i think i would try to make the rice “bun” a bit thinner since i don’t like too much rice.
